Rodney Bland and Riccardo Lucas founded Alpha Development to give Kansas City a partner that can build a project and also say plainly whether it should be built.

Alpha is set up to serve cities, investors, nonprofits and government agencies on projects that make financial sense and move a neighborhood forward. The firm chooses its commitments carefully, assembles the right team and delivers.

Mixed-use, multifamily, affordable housing and advisory work all face the same test: the block should be better when Alpha leaves than when it arrived.
